Jordan and Kaitlyn were born premature at 32.5 weeks. At six weeks of age, Jordan developed severe vomiting and had difficulty retaining milk. Unlike her sister, Jordan was having difficulty gaining weight. After an ultrasound, Jordan was diagnosed with pyloric stenosis, a condition that affects a baby’s gastrointestinal tract and can cause the infant to vomit forcefully, often resulting in dehydration and salt and fluid imbalances. Jordan underwent a pyloric myotomy, a laparascopic surgery that relieves the blockage caused by the stenosis and enabled her to eat and gain weight. Both Jordan and Kaitlyn overcome their prematurity health issues and are happy and healthy first graders. According to their mom, Laura, “We are very blessed to have two happy and healthy girls and are extremely thankful for the care they received and continue to receive at Kapi‘olani. Thank you so much for the excellent care and support you provided.”
