Evan and Emma

Evan and Emma were born at 27.5 weeks, weighing in at just over two pounds each. They remained in Kapi‘olani Medical Center’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for 71 days. Both girls were on breathing machines and underwent two blood transfusions. “I was very scared for my daughters and worried constantly about whether they could survive this ordeal,” said their mother, Rachel. Today, Evan and Emma are happy little girls that enjoy singing, swimming and dancing. “We are so grateful to the NICU nurses and doctors for doing everything possible for our babies. They have become our family and we will cherish them in our hearts forever.”
