Magazine Publisher Cheryl DeAngelo Joins ProjectFocus Hawaii’s Board of Directors
DeAngelo and her husband, acclaimed chef Fred DeAngelo, also own OLA at the Turtle Bay Resort. Philanthropy is promoted amongst their staff of 60 employees, with quarterly cleanups of the two-mile stretch of highway that OLA has "adopted,” participating in can food drives and donating Christmas gifts and school supplies for needy children. The DeAngelo's also participate in at least 12 fundraisers for various organizations per year. In recognition of charitable giving and community service, OLA received the 2008 National Restaurant Association's "Good Neighbor Award."
DeAngelo is also on the board of directors for Tau Dance Theater and is an active member of The Pacific Club, where she sits on the Mess & Bar Committee.
ProjectFocus Hawai’i is a non-profit organization whose mission is to enrich the lives of children through the use of photography and to use this medium as a vehicle for enhancing self-esteem, self-awareness, and self-reflection. Its program is independently funded through monetary and in-kind donations made by foundations as well as community and business leaders.
