It doesn't get much better than this..ProjectFocus gave each participant a $100 Macy's gift certificate so they could purchase clothing for their opening night exhibit reception on August 6th. Armed and ready they hit the store before it opened to the public. The Macy's team was great! Breakfast by The Pineapple Room was delicious! Did these kids "shine" or what?

Island Style Dinner at Keiki O Ka 'Aina

In celebration of Lauren's visit, Keiki O Ka Aina and Down Syndrome Ohana Hawaii hosted an island style party complete with poi pounding, lei making, hula, delicious Hawaiian kau kau, music and much more. Even Lani Moo joined us!

"Glee" Actress, Lauren Potter, Arrives in Hawai'i!

When asked who our participants would most like to meet, the resounding response was "Becky" from the award winning TV series, "Glee." "Dream Big" is our motto and so we did. On Sunday Lauren Potter and her mother Robin arrive as a surprise to our kids.

FUJIFilm Hawaii has been one of ProjectFocus Hawaii's most beloved supporters over the years. In June we were invited to tour their facility where the real magic happens! We learned how the kids' exhibit canvases would be printed and, FUJI gave each participant a personalized dog tag and mouse pad with their group image printed on it. The morning was capped off with a yummy lunch and group shot taken in front of the building as a moment left behind for Fuji's office lobby.

ProjectFocus ends its 2010 internship with a hearty farewell to our HUGS participants, their families and the wonderful HUGSʻ staff whose dedication to those in need is inspiring beyond words. Our warmest mahalo to our kids whose spirits shined with grace and compassion, their siblings who taught us about courage, and their parents whose strength and perseverance amidst adversity can only be described as the greatest love of all.

Cirque Du Soleil Opens Their Hearts

Our thanks to Isabel of Cirque du Soleil (lower front wearing PFH t-shirt) for arranging complimentary tickets for our kids to see “Alegria” at the Neal Blaisdell Arena. It was a fantastic experience for our participants, many of whom had never been to the arena, much less experienced a show of this caliber. Mahalo Isabel and Cirque du Soleil! If you havenʻt seen the show…itʻs a must!
