LISA UESUGI

Based in Wahiawa, Hawaii, Lisa Uesugi of utopia Photography is a traditional, black & white, film photographer who insists that her work be custom-printed by hand. She custom prints all of her clients’ photographic work and is well known and respected for artistic integrity. Lisa has clients through the State of Hawai‘i, the mainland and Asia.

Lisa started capturing images 20 years ago when she was still in high school. As a mother, Lisa began focusing her lens on the simple everyday moments of childhood…the very moments that every parent wants to hold onto forever. Lisa shoots with a photo-documentary approach, which lends a unique portraiture style to her work. She personally hand prints all her work.

Lisa has degrees in art (photography) and education. She was a Hawai’i public school teacher for over 10 years, with five years devoted to a middle school art program.   She was also a member of Punahou’s EIR Program for three years.

Lisa is married and has three children.
